Lots of talk and expectation of 5G outside the home and in the business world; will it replace or have a place in home automation soon? What happens to other protocols?
While the advent of Voice Assistants such as Amazon Alexa on Echo Dot, Echo Show and Fire TV have proven very helpful to those wishing to live independently, at times the verbal commands required may prove too difficult. One solution is to use dedicated single-function buttons to accomplish tasks such as: 1. Send a text to my family member or friend to call me 2. Turn on/off a light 3. Find my phone 4. Find my remote 5. Lock/unlock my door Here is a YouTube video on the Flic button setup https://youtu.be/WntZVi4ZX3U and a photo of the others buttons I have been looking into
I'm looking for a way to trigger a BT locator tag from an automation. Currently I only see how manually to do it from within a mobile app with a screen tap or verbally using a voice assistant skill like "Alexa, Ask Tile to ring my keys" Has anybody seen a way to programmatically trigger a tile's location sounder feature? IFTTT, ST, WebCore, Tasker?... Beuller, Beuller ?? I understand that the phone/tablet would still need to provide the BT link to the tag Frank
OK, this one has been bothering me for a LONG time! I was forgetting to take my phone when I get out of the car. This usually happens when I've been charging it in the car. I know the car makers could easily solve this with a warning that a connected phone has just become disconnected, but I finally decided to solve it on the phone side since an I'm now a Samsung Phone user I use an Android app- "Notify! for Bluetooth" by N.I.R, to detect the BT has dropped and play a song. I then use Tasker to pick up the notification and do the Text to speech I've not found any apps that work like this on IOS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uc0Awv9K9Pw Frank
